A quick, fun look at Universal Studios Hollywood and why you need to go.

When people think of Universal Studios, they typically think of Orlando, Florida, but today we want to shine some light on Universal Studios Hollywood in California!

Universal Studios Hollywood front gate

Universal Studios Hollywood is a unique theme park. The most special thing about this place is that it is an actual working film studio! The main attraction here is the The World-Famous Tram Tour. This must do tour takes you backstage to real movie and tv show locations. You will get a behind the scenes look at where and how many of your favorite shows and movies are filmed. Psycho, Jaws and Back to the Future are just a few of the classic movie sets you will see.

Universal Studios Hollywood is also home to the highly anticipated Super Nintendo World. This land is perfectly detailed and immersive. You do not have to play the video games at home to appreciate this area in the park. There are so many interactive play areas. The main attraction, Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge is family-friendly and the Toadstool Cafe has creatively themed food like the Fireball Spaghetti.

Another unique feature of this park is the way it is situated in the hills. Because of this, the park is divided into two sections, the Upper Lot and the Lower Lot. The two lots are connected by escalators. The view of the Hollywood Hills from the escalators is breathtaking. This quick video doesn’t do it justice, but it will give you an idea. Even on this day when it was overcast and rainy, the view was worth taking your time in this area.

The Upper Lot has more of the family friendly attractions like the Dreamworks Theatre Featuring Kung Fu Panda, Despicable Me Minion Mayhem and The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash. The Lower Lot has more of the thrilling attractions like Revenge of The Mummy, Jurassic World – The Ride and Transformers: The Ride 3D.

Universal Studios Hollywood also has a version of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. This area simulates walking through Hogsmeade and features two attractions: Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey and Flight of the Hippogriff. You can grab a Butterbeer along with other themed snacks, food and drinks.

Along with amazing shows like Waterworld, and characters like Scooby Doo & the Gang, Frankenstein, Beetlejuice, The Simpsons, Gru & the Minions to see around the park, there is something for everyone.

If you are looking for a different place to shop and eat, CityWalk is just outside of the front gate. CityWalk does not require a theme park ticket. There are so many choices for food or to pick up Universal merchandise if you forgot to grab something in the park. There is a cinema in case you feel like catching a movie after a day in the park and an indoor skydiving experience if you feel like taking flight.

Even though this park may not be packed with rollercoasters, it provides a look at things you cannot see anywhere else. Planning a trip to see Universal Studios Hollywood makes it easy to see some of the main tourist areas as well as pairing it with a visit to Disneyland.
